Bible Verses About Old Testament Prophecies

Early Christians taught that the Old Testament prophets foretold Christ, and that Jesus fulfilled those prophecies. Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, Origen, Novatian, Tertullian, and others repeatedly tied Moses, the prophets, the Psalms, and Isaiah to Jesus’ life, suffering, and rule. They also used fulfilled prophecy as a defense against opponents, especially Marcionites and other groups that rejected the Old Testament.

The evidence is broad and consistent across the 2nd and 3rd centuries, with only a few weaker or unrelated prophecy references set aside.
