Bible Verses About Name It And Claim It

Early Christian writers clearly taught that prayer should be made to God in Christ’s name, and they also treated confession of Christ as important for salvation and public witness. Justin Martyr, Clement of Alexandria, Irenaeus, Tertullian, Cyprian, and Origen all give direct support for prayer, confession, and healing connected to Christ’s name.

But the phrase often called "name it and claim it" is not taught in a modern prosperity sense, and many weak hits in the list are just about names, confession, or asking in prayer rather than promises of guaranteed wealth or material success. The evidence is broad for prayer and confession, mixed for healing and obedience, and thin for any direct support of the modern word-faith idea.

Some Bible passages are strong background for asking in faith and doing works in Jesus’ name, but they do not by themselves prove a blanket rule that every desired outcome must happen.
