Bible Verses About Marcion And Marcionism

Early Christian writers consistently treated Marcion as a false teacher who broke from the church and preached another god, not the Creator. Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, Tertullian, Hippolytus, Clement of Alexandria, Cyprian, and others link him to a rejected gospel, mutilated Scripture, and a doctrine of two gods or two causes. They also describe Marcionites as a sect that denied the Creator, opposed marriage, and stood outside the church’s true teaching.

The evidence is broad across the second and third centuries, and it is especially strong on his anti-Creator theology and Scripture changes, while some later polemical details are more indirect.
