Bible Verses About Epiphany And The Manifestation Of Christ

Early Christian writers clearly linked Epiphany with Christ being made known, especially at his baptism when the Father’s voice and the dove showed his divinity. The strongest witness here is the Apostolic Constitutions, which calls Epiphany the day when Christ’s Godhead was shown, and Hippolytus, Clement of Alexandria, Irenaeus, and the early liturgies all echo that baptismal revelation.

The evidence is broad for Epiphany as a festival of Christ’s manifestation, but thinner for a single fixed meaning everywhere, since some texts also use “manifestation” for Christ’s first coming or future appearing. A few Bible passages support this theme directly, especially Luke 3:21-22, Matthew 3:16, John 1:14, and Titus 2:13, while other passages are only background or loose matches.
