Bible Verses About Divine Healing

Early Christian writings teach that God heals, Christ heals by his word and touch, and healing is also a gift of the Holy Spirit in the church. Major witnesses like Irenaeus, Origen, Clement of Alexandria, Lactantius, Tertullian, Cyprian, and the Apostolic Constitutions all connect healing with Jesus’ works, the apostles’ ministry, prayer, and laying on of hands.

The evidence is broad and steady across the 2nd and 3rd centuries, though some writers speak mainly about Christ’s miracles while others focus on church practice or spiritual healing. Bible passages in Luke, Acts, James, and 1 Corinthians fit this pattern and give the main scriptural frame used by these authors. A few cards only mention healing in passing or use the word in a different way, so they are left out of the curated view.
