Bible Verses About Did The Early Christians Believe In Universal Salvation

Early Christian writers did not all teach universal salvation. Clement, Origen, and a few others used sweeping language about Christ saving all, restoring all things, or bringing salvation to all, but Justin Martyr, Tertullian, Cyprian, Theophilus, and later writers also clearly taught everlasting punishment for the wicked. The strongest pattern is mixed: some early Christians spoke in broad, restorative terms, while many others held to a final divide between salvation and judgment.

The clearest early Christian answer is that universal salvation was not the standard teaching of the early church, even though a minority of influential writers used language that can sound universal or restorative.
