Bringing the Gospel to American Latinos

Greetings brethren, I am interested in demographics such as ethnicity and religious growth. To make this short the USA in terms of its ethnic makeup is changing rapidly. Most of this change is coming in the population growth of Latino Americans. I am writing this because after looking for any conservative anabaptists making disciples amongst Hispanic Americans I came up with no results. Where I live there is a large population of Mexican Americans(eastern Washington).

Most of them tend to be nominal catholics(meaning they don't care) or some brand of Protestantism (usually pentecostal) and actually quite a few JW's. I am writing this because I would like to hear of any of your guy's experiences with sharing the gospel with Latinos. Should we learn Spanish?

Is it necessary?(this is question is actually a lot deeper because so far Spanish is the oddball when it comes to language decline in America(except English most languages in the US are gone after the third generation). Furthermore, if you don't have any advice or insights to make you I hope to make you aware of this fact.

Thank you, Sean. Those surprising numbers present a great opportunity for building the kingdom in our communities. My family has been involved with a large Guatemalan community in our area. Some of the ways my family members have used to build relationships with them include babysitting, mentoring, kids' club, and driving for those who don't have a license. My father is a minister so he has helped young couples get marriage licenses.

As for learning Spanish, the question is which age group you will try to reach the most. Nearly all Guatemalan children in our area speak perfect English, however most of their parents have a very limited vocabulary if any English at all. My parents speak Spanish so this gives them a great advantage, but there's many types of ways to minister to Hispanics without speaking Spanish.
