So what is music? How must we handle it? How far do we go with issues such as gospel, country, and contemporary? How do we define the fine line between wholesome classical and the jumpy baptist style that can be so beguiling? I would like some input from some of you concerning the different styles and how we must handle them. I look forward to your comments.

I personally would not listen to that type of music. We as a family listen to Anabaptist music like Oasis Chorale and Altar of Praise Chorale. My dad does not appreciate music with instruments in it, (and I don't even enjoy it), so that's not something that we have. One thing that my dad is big on is: "what type of song is it?" is it all about me, or is it praising and honoring God?

That's a good way of looking at it. Just curious: do you listen to any classical? Plus if you check out the P&H music you'll see it has no instruments, at least not the sector I had.

Sorry, maybe I should have been a little clearer. I don’t really have a problem with the P&H music (although I prefer hymns over gospel songs), but would not listen to the Miller family. We do listen to some classical music, (very little) but we do not have a problem with it.

Sorry, Weaver Family

I would really love to know what it is in the Weaver family's music that makes you shy away from it. Again, no pressure; I'm just curious ;). Is it the more the type of music + the instruments or the lyrics or what?

Check out https://www.rejoicemusic.org/rejoicify/

It's a music app built by some brothers from my church. Lots of great traditional a cappella and instrumental music! You can filter by music preferences to exclude any music you do not want available to you. Highly recommended!
