Hello Michael
I am a strong supporter of plain, distinctive dress. What brings a young women to wear tighter clothing? What do we want from our clothes. Is it protection from the elements and a cover for nakedness? Don't get me wrong we all like to look good but possibly young women are the more avid pursuers of beauty. I suppose what drives a young woman to wear tight fitting dresses would also result in a young women wearing tight fitting pants. I value a culture where mothers and daughters work together to sew dresses fit for a daughter of the King. Loosing this makes us dependant on the designers of our day for clothing that may not glorify God.
How do we cultivate a culture of beautiful, simple, modest women who love God above all else. Seeking rather to be daughters of the king rather then seeking the outward adorning of plating the hair and wearing of gold.....
Michael,
I think that you have a good question. There are a few cases where I think that certain pants (carefully chosen) are more modest than wearing a dress. For example, if a woman was exercising in a public place, a dress or skirt may be more revealing or allow someone to see a lot more skin than some very modest, very loose-fitting pants.
As a woman, the only reasons women dress sensual is to feel beautiful and be approved by others in how they look. There are women who know men will give them attention if they dress sensual. I grew up in pants, but once I started reading the Bible, it was very clear christian women should dress modest. I ditched pants and only wear long dresses/long skirts. I would say even with long dresses it can be too tight for women, so it really depends on the heart of each woman and should not make rules about that, but should encourage modesty for christian women.
