I would like to share my thoughts with you on this subject. I have wondered myself about this subject but I was never bothered or disturbed by what I did not understand. I have no business judging God for what he chooses to do. God is God and I am not. Well let’s consider 1 Samuel ch16:14-23 especially vs 14 I am sharing from the ASV “Now the Spirit of Jehovah departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from Jehovah troubled him.” From what I understand Saul was making choices acting in rebellion against God. Let’s consider Romans 1:28 “And even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up unto a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting;” I believe if we choose to live in rebellion towards God his Holy Spirit can no longer abide within us. And when his Spirit departs we are a hopeless cause, free room and board for any unclean spirit. But does God himself send evil spirits to fill the void? Let’s consider Matthew 8:28-33 “And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, there met him two possessed with demons, coming forth out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man could pass by that way. And behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time? Now there was afar off from them a herd of many swine feeding. And the demons besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, send us away into the herd of swine. And he said unto them, Go. And they came out, and went into the swine: and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep into the sea, and perished in the waters. And they that fed them fled, and went away into the city, and told everything, and what was befallen to them that were possessed with demons. And behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart from their borders.” I believe God can do whatever he chooses to do without getting my permission. As I said myself I at times I myself do not always understand the ways of God. But I choose to live in submission to my Savior. There are skeptics who feel perfect freedom to point an accusing finger at God but there will come a day, when every eye will see him even those who pierced him. And they will bow their knees and show him undivided respect. May each of us learn to walk with Godly fear and respect before the Great Day of the Lord. Revelation 6:14-16 “And the heaven was removed as a scroll when it is rolled up; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the princes, and the chief captains, and the rich, and the strong, and every bondman and freeman, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains; and they say to the mountains and to the rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: for the great day of their wrath is come; and who is able to stand?” Let’s consider 1 kings 22:12-23 especially verses 19-22 “And Micaiah said, Therefore hear thou the word of Jehovah: I saw Jehovah sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left. And Jehovah said, Who shall entice Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one said on this manner; and another said on that manner. And there came forth a spirit, and stood before Jehovah, and said, I will entice him. And Jehovah said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt entice him, and shalt prevail also: go forth, and do so. Now therefore, behold, Jehovah hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets; and Jehovah hath spoken evil concerning thee.” For a parallel passage I would like to consider Job 1:6 “Now it came to pass on the day when the sons of God came to present themselves before Jehovah, that Satan also came among them.” I do not claim to have it all figured out but I myself feel there could have been a similar situation happening in these two different passages. The way I see it God was simply looking for a way to entice Ahab to go into battle. The Lying Spirit was came up with the Idea. I hope this helps. God bless you and I hope you find a Kingdom minded Church to attend.
