Hello Historic Faith Community,

It has been awhile. I joined this community - and was very engaged with content from David Bercot and the Historic Faith - a few years ago. In fact, I was so engaged that I almost request conscientious objector status in the U.S. Army. I went so far as to talk with my Chaplain and receive the documents, but I had a heart-to-heart with my wife, and her pleading convinced me not to go through with it.

Slowly but surely I stopped engaging with content from David Bercot and the Historic Faith community. There is a lot to say about the last few years, but I won't bore you with all of the details. I'll try to give an overview of my journey in life until now.

Prior to the age of 6, I didn't have much positive engagement with religion or Christianity. My dad converted to Oneness/Apostolic Pentecostalism when I was 6, I shortly thereafter went to live with him, and I was raised in that tradition/movement until I departed it of my own conscious choice at the age of 23. I began to question both the doctrine of the tradition and the specific teachings of my local church pastor(s). Since then, I've experienced ups and downs.

I've been in periods of blatant sinfulness and unbelief, and I've been in periods of strong devotion. I've been attracted to various Christian movements/traditions and even tried to live in them. Around April of 2022, I lost my faith and became agnostic. However, in around October of 2023, I suppose I regained it. Since then, I've been primarily focused on content from The Bible Project, which has greatly helped me.

Their most recent series is focused on the Sermon on the Mount, which reminded me of David Bercot's Matthew commentary. I resubscribed to the Historic Faith so that I could access his course on his Matthew commentary. Also, I would love to get a digital copy of his commentary, if possible. I've contacted both the Historic Faith and Scroll Publishing Facebook pages about this to no avail so far.

Anyway, glad to be back and excited to continue learning with you.
