So, I've been here a while and haven't introduced myself; right then, here goes: I'm Loren Yoder; I was born and raised conservative Mennonite/Amish but wasn't taught the "why" behind most of our practices. I left that church and began a quest seeking what my convictions are. This process eventually led me to a group where scripture was not taken as literally as I believed it should be.
During this journey from a very conservative church to a very liberal church, I realized that what I'm after is the Kingdom of God. I'm not after man-made rules and legalism or a grace-only gospel; I want to be a disciple and part of the Kingdom! I began to listen to many of David Bercot's teachings and bought several books from him. My appreciation for David Bercot's teachings brought me to Historic faith. I've also been inspired to start writing books myself.
Books that follow scripture and are unapologetic about what scripture says. I live in the Bible Belt here in west TN, and it's impossible to travel far without tripping over some form of Christianity, yet the Christianity around here isn't changing people, at least not as well as portrayed in Acts. I believe the most significant thing I can do for the world is to, in some small way, use my time and talents to show people what the life-changing gospel is.
Today, as I write this, I'm 32, I have left the liberal church, and am part of another group, I'm happily married and we have a one-year-old daughter.
