Hey everyone, wish you all a blessed New year! I wondered if someone here knew about some inspiring saints throughout history who chose to live in voluntary poverty and if he or she could provide information material to read or listen to about this particular aspect of their life or even what they themselves had to say about it.

I'd be delighted!

PS: I know the True Greatness course covers a little bit of what I'm looking for with Francis of Assisi and John Wesley.

This might not be exactly what you are looking for, but it would probably be a real encouragement to learn more about the Bruderhof communities in America. Members take a vow of poverty she have all things in common. They share a lot on their website and I was encouraged by a zoom meeting I had with a couple from one of the communities. They are a modern day example of how this could be lived out.

Thank you Sister, there is a community here in Germany, too and I'm already planning to visit them this year.

Hey Brother :)

CT Studd was a famous cricket player, maybe the richest sports person in his time (1860-1931), gave up all his money (donated) for Christ. Went to China and Africa for missionary (after he gave away all his money.. he was dependent on donations)

Cyprian of Carthage is an good example of that in the Early Church, born rich, gave up his wealth to obey King Jesus.

(this is in german about good works and alms by Cyprian)

We are studying with the Bruderhof currently. It is very interesting and thought provoking on these matters. I too encourage you to connect with them. I am sure there are others out there too, but I am most familiar with the Bruderhof currently.
