Greetings,

I was raised an a fairly progressive Anabaptist home. I was convicted of my sinful condition and sensed the call of Jesus when I was about 10. Almost thirty years later the road, due to my own doing, seems to have been anything but straight. Yet, through all the wanderings God has proven himself a good and faithful father.

Four years ago God began to reveal the walls of spiritual pride which were hindering my relationship with him and his people. To experience his love and have him reveal the broken areas of my life has been a beautiful, and painful, process. Through it all I have found him to be a faithful father who wisely and perfectly corrects his children.

It surely hurts like crazy, but submitting to that correction and walking in repentance never fails to bring peace and deeper fellowship with him and others.

I was introduced to David Bercot in the mid 200's by a teacher who referenced "The Kingdom That Turned The World Upside Down" which clearly articulated the two kingdom mindset I at some level understood, but couldn't express. I have deeply appreciated another voice calling us to consider the solid foundation of Christ, the apostles, and the early church fathers.

I was excited to hear about the founding of Sattler college and am endeavoring to remain engaged as my children approach college age. We plan to attend the open house in December and make some connections.

I am kicking of my time here at The Historical Faith by starting "Salvation: Mechanical or Relational?". Though I'm just beginning the course I am once again appreciating the clarity of the teaching. I'm looking forward to continuing these studies and to see how God will use them to shape me into a more perfect image of his son.

Blessings,

Josh

Welcome, Joshua! I am new here too.

The Lord has been talking to me about "spiritual pride" as well. What hit me recently is that Jesus, who is the most gifted human ever, willingly divested Himself of His position in heaven and took the form of a slave (Philippians 2:5-11). Not because He lacked anything, but because He was "obedient to the point of death." He used His gifts unselfishly.

And He told us that we can set our own standard for the judgment based on how merciful we are, particularly in those smaller speck-sized matters (Matt 7:2-3). So I have resolved, though the power of His Spirit, to let all kinds of things pass my awareness now without comment internally or externally, and hopefully remembering to pray blessings upon that person.

Peace be upon you.
