Now, therefore, by means of what has already been brought forth a long time ago, the Word has provided an interpretation. We are convinced that there exist, so to speak, two men within each of us. One is admittedly hidden, while the other is apparent; one is corporeal, and the other is spiritual, although the generation of both can be compared to that of twins. For both are revealed to the world as one, since the soul was not before the body in its essence; nor, regarding its formation, did the body come before the soul: rather, both were produced at the same time; and their nourishment consists of purity and sweetness.
