Chapter 57: Authors of Rebellion Should Surrender

YOU: therefore, who initiated this rebellion, submit yourselves to the elders, and accept correction to repent, bending the knees of your hearts. Learn to be obedient, setting aside the proud and arrogant self-confidence of your speech. For it is better for you to occupy a humble but honorable place in the flock of Christ, than to be highly exalted and then cast out from the hope of His people. For thus speaks all-virtuous Wisdom: “Behold, I will present to you the words of My Spirit, and I will teach you My speech. Since I called, and you did not hear; I offered My words, and you ignored them, disregarding My advice and not responding to My corrections; therefore I too will laugh at your destruction; yes, I will rejoice when ruin comes upon you, and when sudden confusion overtakes you, when disaster strikes like a storm, or when tribulation and oppression fall upon you. For it will happen that when you call upon Me, I will not hear you; the wicked will seek Me, and they will not find Me. For they hated wisdom and did not choose the fear of the Lord; they would not listen to My advice, but despised My corrections. Therefore they shall eat the fruits of their own path, and they shall be filled with their own ungodliness.”
