The First Apology

But in case anyone should question us, asking what stops the one we call Christ, a man born of men, from performing what we call His mighty works through magic, and thus seeming to be the Son of God, we will now provide proof. We do not rely on mere assertions, but are necessarily convinced by those who prophesied about Him before these events occurred, for we see with our own eyes things that have happened and are happening just as they were predicted; and this, we believe, will appear to you as the strongest and truest evidence.
