Epistles of Ignatius
Book V · Chapter 2: His Own Situation
But I, O blessed woman, not being now as much my own master but in the power of others, am driven along by the varying wills of many adversaries, being in one sense in exile, in another in prison, and in a third in chains. But I pay no attention to these things. Yes, through the injuries inflicted on me by them, I become even more of a disciple, so that I may attain to Jesus Christ. May I embrace the torments prepared for me, knowing that "the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."
