Dialogue with Trypho
Chapter 142: The Jews Express Gratitude and Depart from Justin
Then Trypho, after a brief pause, said, “You see that it was not our intention to discuss these topics. I admit that I have been particularly pleased with the conversation, and I believe that these others share my opinion. For we have discovered more than we anticipated, more than we could have hoped for. If we could do this more frequently, it would greatly aid us in studying the Scriptures. But since,” he said, “you are about to depart and expect to leave soon, please remember us as friends when you are gone.”
"For my part," I replied, "if I had stayed, I would have wanted to do the same thing every day. But now, since I expect, with God's will and help, to set sail, I urge you to put all effort into this very important struggle for your own salvation, and to be earnest in valuing the Christ of the Almighty God more than your own teachers."
After this they left me, wishing me safety in my voyage and protection from every misfortune. And I, praying for them, said, "I can wish nothing better for you, sirs, than this: that, recognizing in this way that intelligence is given to everyone, you may share our opinion and believe that Jesus is the Christ of God."
