Chapter 76: Proving the Same Majesty and Governance of Christ from Other Passages

"For when Daniel talks about 'one like the Son of man' who received the everlasting kingdom, isn’t he hinting at this very thing? By saying 'like the Son of man,' he showed that He appeared and was a man, but not from human seed. Daniel also spoke in mystery of the stone cut out without hands. The phrase 'cut out without hands' indicates it’s not a human work, but a work of the will of the Father and God of all things, who brought Him forth.

WHEN ISAIAH ASKS: 'Who shall declare His generation?' he means His descent cannot be declared. No one born of man can have an undetermined descent. When Moses says He will wash His garments in the blood of the grape, doesn’t this signify what I have repeatedly told you is an obscure prediction, namely, that He had blood not from men; just as the blood of the vine comes not from man, but from God?

When Isaiah calls Him the Angel of mighty counsel, didn’t he foretell Him to be the Teacher of those truths which He taught when He came to earth? For He alone openly taught those mighty counsels which the Father intended for all those who have been and will be well-pleasing to Him, and also for those who have rebelled against His will, whether men or angels. This is when He said: 'They shall come from the east and the west, and shall sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven: but the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness.' And, 'Many shall say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not eaten, and drunk, and prophesied, and cast out demons in Your name? And I will say to them, Depart from Me.'

Again, with other words, by which He shall condemn those unworthy of salvation, He said, 'Depart into outer darkness, which the Father has prepared for Satan and his angels.' Again, in other words, He said, ‘I give you power to tread on serpents, scorpions, scolopendras, and all the might of the enemy.’ Now we, who believe in our Lord Jesus, crucified under Pontius Pilate, when we exorcise demons and evil spirits, have them subjected to us. For if the prophets declared obscurely that Christ would suffer and afterwards be Lord of all, it wasn’t understood by any man until He convinced the apostles that these statements were clearly related in the Scriptures. Before His crucifixion, He proclaimed: 'The Son of man must suffer many things, be rejected by the Scribes and Pharisees, be crucified, and on the third day rise again.' David predicted that He would be born from the womb before sun and moon, according to the Father’s will, and made Him known as Christ, as God strong and to be worshipped."
