WHEN THOSE WHO DESCRIBE THE MYSTERIES OF MITHRAS CLAIM THAT HE WAS BORN FROM A ROCK AND CALL THE PLACE WHERE BELIEVERS ARE INITIATED A CAVE: don't I see that they have imitated Daniel’s statement about a stone cut from a great mountain without hands? They have also tried to imitate all of Isaiah’s words. I must repeat Isaiah's words so you can understand this. They are: ‘Listen, those who are far off, to what I have done; those nearby will know my power.

The sinners in Zion are removed; fear will seize the impious. Who will tell you about the everlasting place? The person who walks in righteousness, speaks truthfully, hates sin and unrighteousness, keeps hands clean from bribes, closes ears from hearing unjust judgment of blood, and shuts eyes from seeing unrighteousness will dwell in the lofty cave of the strong rock. Bread will be given to him, and his water will be sure. You will see the King in glory, and your eyes will look far ahead.

Your soul will diligently pursue the fear of the Lord. Where is the scribe? Where are the counselors? Where is the one who counts those who are nourished, the small and great people? With whom they did not consult, nor understand the depth of the voices, so they did not hear. The people have become depreciated, and there is no understanding in the listener.’ It is clear that this prophecy refers to the bread our Christ gave us to eat in remembrance of His becoming flesh for His believers, for whom He also suffered; and to the cup He gave us to drink in remembrance of His own blood, with giving of thanks.

This prophecy shows that we will see this very King in glory, and it clearly states that the people who were foreseen to believe in Him were also foreseen to diligently pursue the fear of the Lord.

Moreover, these Scriptures clearly say that those who claim to know the Scriptures and hear the prophecies have no understanding. And when I hear, Trypho," I said, "that Perseus was born of a virgin, I understand that the deceiving serpent also copied this.
