Chapter 40: He Returns to the Biblical (Mosaic) Laws and Demonstrates that They Symbolize Aspects Related to Christ.

THE MYSTERY OF THE LAMB THAT GOD COMMANDED TO BE SACRIFICED FOR THE PASSOVER WAS A SYMBOL OF CHRIST: Those who believe in Him anoint their houses, meaning themselves, with His blood, according to their faith. You all understand that the creation God made—specifically Adam—was a house for the spirit that came from God. I prove that this command was temporary. God does not allow the Passover lamb to be sacrificed anywhere other than where His name was declared, knowing that after Christ's suffering, the days will come when even the place in Jerusalem will be handed over to your enemies, and all sacrifices will stop.

The lamb that was ordered to be completely roasted symbolized the suffering on the cross that Christ would endure. The lamb is roasted in the form of a cross: one spit goes through from the lower parts up to the head, and one goes across the back, where the legs of the lamb are attached. The two goats ordered to be offered during the fast, where one was sent away as the scapegoat and the other sacrificed, similarly represented the two appearances of Christ.

In the first, the elders of your people and the priests laid hands on Him and put Him to death, sending Him away as the scapegoat. In His second appearance, you will recognize in Jerusalem the one you have dishonored, who was an offering for all sinners willing to repent and keeping the fast Isaiah speaks of, breaking the violent agreements and following the other precepts he lists, which those believing in Jesus do.

Additionally, you know that the offering of the two goats, required to be sacrificed during the fast, was only allowed in Jerusalem and nowhere else.
