Chapter 38: The Jew is bothered by the claim that Christ is worshipped. Nevertheless, Justin validates it using Psalm 45

And Trypho said, "Sir, it would be good for us if we obeyed our teachers, who laid down a law that we should have no interaction with any of you, and that we should not have any communication with you on these matters. For you utter many blasphemies by trying to persuade us that this crucified man was with Moses and Aaron, and spoke to them in the pillar of cloud; then that he became man, was crucified, ascended to heaven, and comes again to earth, and ought to be worshipped."

Then I answered, "I know that, as the word of God says, this great wisdom of God, the Maker of all things, and the Almighty, is hidden from you.

Therefore, out of sympathy for you, I am striving as much as possible for you to understand these matters that seem paradoxical to you; but if not, that I may be innocent on the day of judgment. For you will hear other words that appear even more paradoxical; but do not be confused, rather remain even more eager listeners and investigators, disregarding the tradition of your teachers, since they are proved by the Holy Spirit to be unable to perceive the truths taught by God, and prefer to teach their own doctrines.

Accordingly, in the forty-fourth [forty-fifth] Psalm, these words are similarly referred to Christ: ‘My heart has brought forth a good matter; I address my works to the King. My tongue is the pen of a ready writer. More beautiful than the sons of men: grace is poured onto Your lips: therefore God has blessed You forever. Gird Your sword upon Your thigh, O mighty One. Continue in Your fairness and beauty, and prosper and reign because of truth, meekness, and righteousness: and Your right hand shall instruct You marvelously.

Your arrows are sharpened, O mighty One; the people shall fall under You; the arrows are fixed in the heart of the King’s enemies. Your throne, O God, is forever and ever: a scepter of fairness is the scepter of Your kingdom. You have loved righteousness, and hated wickedness; therefore God has anointed You with the oil of gladness above Your companions. [He has anointed You] with myrrh, and oil, and cassia, from Your garments; from the ivory palaces, where they made You glad.

Kings’ daughters are among Your honored ones. The queen stood at Your right hand, dressed in garments embroidered with gold. Listen, O daughter, and see, and incline your ear, and forget your people and your father's house: and the King shall desire your beauty; because He is your Lord, they shall also worship Him. And the daughter of Tyre [shall be there] with gifts. The rich among the people shall seek Your favor. All the glory of the King's daughter is within, clothed in embroidered garments.

The virgins that follow her shall be brought to the King; her companions shall be brought to You: they shall be brought with joy and gladness: they shall be led into the King's presence. Instead of your fathers, your sons have been born: You shall appoint them rulers over all the earth. I shall remember Your name in every generation: therefore the people shall praise You forever, and ever and ever.’"
