David’s insight into the early church’s understanding of passages that many present-day believers have misunderstood is truly helpful. Understanding that “the love of Christ” is likely to mean “our love for Christ” is a game changer for correctly interpreting the meaning of many passages.
very good
I learned so much from this course and it cleared up some of the ways I had been taught to interpret Scripture. Thank you.
Learned a lot in terms of how we have been trained to read our Bibles with a philosophical filter we were previously indoctrinated with.
Very intriguing and inspiring information about the Bible, the written word of God.
This course was clarifying and extremely helpful to understand the Bible more accurately in accordance with the first of the Church. Also made me aware of some deliberate fudges. Thank you all and thank you Brother David Bercot for the extensive work you do! God Bless!
Very good course
This course will certainly challenge what most have been taught regarding Church History and the Bible. Even if you come out in disagreeing with the teacher's conclusions, the fact presented are sound, and have been suppressed my many who seek to promote a novel view of Scripture.
I have already purchased many of theses lessons from Scroll Publishing; plus, I’ve found several others on FOTW, AIC, etc. Therefore, some of the things I’m learning are just repeats, and that’s all good. I need that. For example, I already have the 5 Misunderstood Verses in mp3 on my computer. However, I was most amazed in THIS SERIES by learning that one unnamed early Christian said: “All FOODS are lawful for me…”. That was in the lesson: are-you-really-reading-gods-word. The word FOODS made a LOT more sense than anything I had ever heard before, especially since the word THINGS is not in the “original Greek”. What? Are you kidding me? WOW! And to finally hear this, I can now see that’s totally the context in the following verse… EVEN SO, I still realize that several early Christians DID add the word THINGS (as you pointed out in the 5 Misunderstood Verses lesson) so maybe that interpretation is fine too. However, from where I’m sitting (in a deer stand), inserting the word THINGS can bring all sorts of wrong beliefs into a person’s mind… but only if they ignore the strict commands and warnings to refrain from sin just a a few verses before. but anyway, I’m just saying, “WOW!!!” And, “THANKS for sharing!!”
Before this series, I had a very negative view of the Apocrypha. I also did not know much about the Septuagint. This course gave me a new perspective on both.
I appreciated learning the real meaning behind the misunderstood verses of the Bible.
I have been a Christian for many years and one that is always studying and wanting to know truth. Truth that is according to our Lord. David brings out truths in this study that I have completely overlooked. Also in these messages he confirms things that I have long held to be the truth even though some are not popular in our churches today. This is some of the best scholarly work pertaining to things eternal that I have been blessed to take part in. My thanks to all involved.
This lesson is an extremely impactful and very necessary lesson. It delves well into the history of the Old Testament and how we should handle the Old Testament. I highly recommend this lesson to anyone who wants to learn more about the history of the Bible and you may be very surprised by what you discover! Nevertheless very necessary and extremely edifying surprises they will be!!!
I found this course very fascinating. Now I would love to get ahold of the Septuagint and the Apocrypha. I am also waiting till I can learn Greek and Hebrew.
I appreciated finding this information about the Septuagint and the Apocrypha in one course. It is valuable history for the Christian to understand, especially when their desire is to know, to live, and to share the authentic Gospel, based on God's intended message to man, rather than a confusing gospel based on errors and the opinions of men.
wonderful to have this course
