I was very blessed by this teaching. It greatly helped me see the historical position of the church as regards to baptismal practices. At a time of the rise of Calvinism everywhere, this teaching needs to be spread far and wide.

I appreciate Bercot's systematic approach in this. He goes through all the Biblical and early Christian writings that are relevant, and comes to a convincing conclusion.

It's been quite a journey trying to understand baptism, particularly regarding the age of recipients and the method employed. The Bible's teachings, particularly in the New Testament and as interpreted by early Christians, seem to leave room for interpretation, whether it pertains to children or adults. Delving deeper and uncovering some of the nuances in translation and inherent biases has, to a significant extent, satisfied the lingering questions I had. I appreciate the clarity this has brought. Thank you

David Bercot makes a very convincing case that believer's baptism was the norm for the first 4 centuries even while infant baptism began to be practiced. Also he gives reason to believe the first infant baptisms were emergency cases during a plague, and later became normalized because of Augustine reacting to Pelagians by teaching Original Sin.
