Great insight and sound arguments than lean pretty heavily against the infant baptism position. I think this is a topic in which proper evaluation of relative proximity to the Apostles and overall credibility is necessary. No one should deny, for example, that infant baptism was promoted in the 3rd century by a few like Cyprian. Origen is questionable, but I think most would admit he certainly did not hold to the believer’s baptism position. I would lean on the Scriptures, the Didache and Justin Martyr as evidence that infant baptsim did not exist in the 1st and 2nd century, but rather belief and repentance were absolute prerequisites.

These further thoughts and proofs on early baptismal practices have sure cleaned up and swept down the cobwebs of my mind. These lessons greatly confirm the validity of simple apostolic obedience to the scripture, and show clear warnings of the end result of man's inventions and deviations. Even if you have studied the earlier full course on baptism, I would highly recommend this as a followup. It will be worth your time and understanding. Glen D Yoder
