Solid historical and scriptural teaching much needed in our day. “Modern-day Christians must have their eyes wide open.” Amen!

So many good things to share about this series. David Bercot’s audio of the ante-nicene Christian view of the intermediate state and afterlife is what initially turned me onto his work when I stumbled upon it on youtube. This enlivens the NT emphasis on the resurrection and the Father as the transcendent God whom Jesus is preparing us to meet at the end. It immediately made sense and shocked me that the predominant view of flying straight to heaven bodiless is explicitly decried as having pagan Greek and gnostic origin.

The topic of true Israel and Dispensationalism is as relevant as ever. I unfortunately grew up in a dispensational bubble, but it holds no water against the plain teaching of the NT. Bercot points out what wickedness dispensationalism condones, and he only touches the tip of the iceburg. The invention of two final judgments, in which easy believists get a free pass for sin and are only judged for bonus point rewards in heaven, is a diabolical doctrine of demons and denial of the gospel doctrine of final judgment.

David Bercot accurately follows Irenaeus in understanding the antichrist and 666, cautious but staying true to the clear koine Greek meaning understood by the original Asia Minor audience of John’s Revelation.

My one critique has to do with several brief statements brother David makes about the Millennium, though as he says, nothing to divide over or to consider too important. I think he must have misspoken when he said the ante-nicene Christians who speculated on the timing of the rapture were “mid trib.” Mid tribulation rapture is based on dispensational theology, that for some reason the rapture straight to heaven is a given and must save Christians from the extra bad “wrathful” part at the end of the tribulation. But this expressly requires a secret rapture in which Jesus does not return visibly to put an end to the antichrist and wickedness, completely antithetical to their express statements. I’m guessing David Bercot confused “mid trib” with “post trib” under the mistaken understanding that “post trib” means the rapture comes after the tribulation has already ended. That’s not what it means. Post trib means that Jesus returns in order to put an end to the ongoing tribulation, so that upon rapturing the suffering church, he comes down with them to remove the wicked.

I also find David Bercot’s categorical statements about the Christians only ruling over other Christians in the millennium strange. If only resurrected Christians remain, why would the devil seek to deceive the nations? Can a resurrected Christian be deceived and defect? Can immortal, impeccable humans be warred against in any reasonable way? I think the solution is Jesus does not smite every non Christian upon his Second coming, but those who have not overtly followed the beast, such as children, are spared, and form the continuing nations that are given in marriage, give birth, die at a ripe old age, etc, but those who reign with christ are the righteous resurrected, who are immortal just as Jesus was upon resurrection.

I’ve enjoyed this course very much. It is a great help in sorting out the many narratives that are being pushed in relation to end times, and fulfillment of Bible prophecy.

Spot on about ethnic Jews and the Gospel. Dispensationalism is truly a doctrine that has caused many, many problems in the Church as well as the United States. Zionism is evil.

This just made so much sense and tied together so much of Scripture for me. What a blessing this series was!

It is laid out really well. Even though it is not something necessarily foundational to our faith it is good to know.

I am learning so much from a trusted Biblical perspective with firsthand sources I can verify for myself.

I would recommend this course to anyone. This course especially brought clarity to me as to what I believe about life after death, and when the judgment is.

There are many things I have been confused about. When reading prophecy with a false presumption already in your head, it can be entirely confusing. Things just don’t fit right but you can’t put your finger on it. Often when reading these scriptures of prophecy, in my head I thinking I guess what happened is a foreshadowing of what is coming on Israel in the end, with the man of lawlessness. This course actually helped me understand things much better. I’m sure people that believe they got it all figured out charismatically would not take these things in very well. But I think this was good for me to learn because I was seeing the holes but no one could clarify things to me. Thank you brother David Bercot, excellent teaching!

Sound and thorough!

It does the scriptures right. I haven’t heard an unbiased Truth like this from any other source except scroll publishing and maybe …ah shucks I can’t remember the other one. But come and see for your self. Pause the teachings and read all around the passages given and you will see its Truth.

Very worthwhile course.

I appreciated the thorough investigation of the teacher and the facts surrounding the issue.

I was born a Gentile, but God has taken me on a long journey, and He has begotten me again unto a lively hope. I’m now following in the footsteps of my faithful, spiritual father Abraham. I believe God, and I believe Christ was His faithful Son and His messenger of the Truth. I am now partaking from the root and fatness of that tree, being grafted into the Israel of God. But I am still very weak in sharing these truths with the 99.9% of people. God help me!

This was a great expose of dispensationalism and the history behind the formation of the state of Israel. Finally the truth!

The information on the modern atheistic state of Israel and the faulty reasoning of dispensationalist Christians was profound and powerful! I believe that the dispensationalist love for the modern state of Israel and its founding by pressure from dispensationalist, is one of the main things which eventually militarized modern Islam and which keeps many Muslims from coming to faith. Dispensationalist have made acceptance of the modern state of Israel part of the gospel, which it is NOT! Dispensationalist are so blind in their idolatry of Israel that they are willing to excuse any crime or injustice practiced by Israel even when it is against other Christians in Palestine and Lebanon.

I share the Historic Faith website with as many people as I can because it's the best Biblical teaching that there is. I wasn't taught any of this in seminary and I've told many people that if the Evangelical seminaries in America would change their curriculum to what's taught on the historic Faith website instead of the dispensational garbage that most teach then the 21st century Church would rival the Church of the 1st century.

My parents are devout Christians and I grew up hearing many scriptural issues discussed backward and forward. This course has helped to tie together a lot of the bits and pieces of what I heard over the years. And there was also a lot of new things to learn that I had never heard before.

We are Israel of God. Great course that really shows beyond any doubt that new covenant Christians are the Israel of God and the children of Abraham.

David has brought clarity to many of the cloudy views I have on the issues of rapture, 666, heaven /hell/hades/paradise, dispensationalism, the Israel in a way that not only enriched my understanding on those topics but captured the discussion in a highly scintillating vigor and passion

There were some amazing insight in this course, especially in the first part about Hades. I haven't found such teachings in any church I have been to, but they are right there in Scripture. The lessons on Dispensationalism and Israel had some repetitions, that's why I give 4 stars.

This helps to make sense of all the muddy waters of the many end times teachings out there.

This course was truly eye opening. While going through the lessons, I came to realize I held to some, not entirely, dispensationalist views. Also the lessons on Life After Death shed some light as well. I believed that people did not go straight to heaven simply because Jesus told the thief on the cross next to Him, "today you will be with Me in paradise", and yet He told one of the women who saw Him after His resurrection, "do not cling to Me woman for I haven't ascended to the Father yet" but I couldn't explain it. 666 and the Anti-Christ was also eye opening. I strongly recommend this course. Thank you brother Bercot for a great course.

I was brought up to believe many of the tenets of dispensationalism, but a few years ago I decided to study eschatology for myself. When I found things in the Bible that contradicted some of the things I was taught, I shared my findings with others in the church. To my surprise, nobody would even listen, even though I pointed out what the Scriptures plainly said. One person was even hostile towards me. I couldn't figure out why anyone would be angry just because someone expressed a view different than their own. But this made me curious and caused me to dig even more. I am thankful that my husband has come to believe a lot of the same things I do, and speaks out about them in church every once in a while. So obviously, it has been very refreshing to hear someone speak honestly about this subject. By taking this course I have learned a lot more, and I appreciate all the honest research that was done by David Bercot. I am also thankful for how well he laid it is.

I had previously purchased and listened to all eight of these messages spoken by dear brother Bercot, but I am so very thankful for the fact that these eight messages were grouped together into one course here on The Historic Faith, encouraging me to listen to all eight of them again.

While listening to the messages included in this course, I made the happy discovery that included with each audio message is a Word document containing either an outline or a transcript of the message. Reading through the Word document after listening to each message was a wonderful way to reinforce the content of the message. In fact, by incorporating a slow reading through each of the associated documents, I was finally able to achieve something I never thought I would achieve - I scored 100% the first time around on all of the quizzes for this course. I had previously abandoned all hope of every achieving that milestone.

There are lots of rich details included in these eight messages, and anyone who has not heard these messages before will find themselves frequently challenged and surprised, which I see as a very good thing. Some of the real gems in these messages include:
1) A very clear, and Scripture-based, explanation of the statement that Jesus "descended into Hell" found in the ante-Nicene Apostles' Creed.
2) Lots of surprises regarding "life after death" if you happen to hold to common view that Christians go right to heaven after they die.
3) The best, most balanced and most Scripture-based explanation that I have ever heard regarding the reference to the number 666 that appears in Revelation 13:18.
4) An explanation of the "Millennialism" held to by many in the Ante-Nicene church that differs greatly from the today's prevailing Pre-Millennialism.
5) The best, most balanced and most Scripture-based explanation that I have ever heard concerning Paul's words "all Israel will be saved" found in Romans 12:6.
6) Lots of shocking facts regarding the birth of the modern nation of Israel, including some real surprises regarding the views of many Orthodox Jews toward the modern nation of Israel.

Scattered throughout these eight messages are many exhortations to remain faithful to Kingdom Christianity, and to be careful to not be led astray after fanciful speculations, novel theology, and wild claims unknown to our Lord Jesus Christ, His holy apostles and His early disciples.
