Ideas to help restart your discussion
Question 2
If errors about God keep appearing in every century and God is able to take care of them, what does that show about His purposes for the church and the limits He places on its leaders?
Another way to ask: Wrong ideas about God keep coming back, and God can handle them. What does that show about His plans for the church and about how far its leaders should go?

Direct Answer

God has not asked church leaders to wipe out every error. They teach, persuade and protect the pulpit, and then leave the rest to Him. The transcript makes this point briefly and does not lay out a full teaching on God's purposes.

Support from the Message

- David Bercot says errors are going to happen, God is in charge, and some things God takes care of Himself. - He says, "Your power ends with trying to persuade somebody." - Leaders may remove someone from leadership, and may excommunicate if they have to. - The oneness error was there in the 2nd century and is still here today, so it was never finally silenced. - God did not set up His church with one head controlling everything. The churches worked together as one, and every congregation was independent.

Discussion Follow-up

What would change in a church dispute if leaders truly believed their power ends with persuasion? Where do you find it hard to leave an outcome with God?
