Good insights from David Bercot on two kingdoms, non-resistance, staying clear of politics, and the biblical reasons for such positions. It's a major shock compared with how I was raised, and much of it took (and is taking) some time to digest.
My one critique is I would appreciate a full-discussion on the proper role of government. Sometimes David Bercot says a government rightly bears the sword per Romans 13, and in the Voting and Politics gives an example of the impermissibility of being involved in political office as the governments do not promote turning the cheek, and do not forbid/punish sins such as adultery and pornography. He then says that Christians are to be concerned with injustice.
But how does a Christian actually discern what God expects of a secular government? If Christians should pray for and be concerned about injustice affecting society, what government actions qualify? By what standard do we say X secular government is worse than Y secular government? Should they outlaw and punish adultery? We know David Bercot would not approve of a nation mandating church membership, even though church membership is good. Obviously, the means matter, but clearly not every good things should be mandated. How do we know which set of moral "goods" and immoral "wrongs" are just or unjust to enforce? I think, for example in 1 Corinthians 10, that Paul believed the Law of Moses contained evidences of eternal, natural law that applied to all people, given he cites "do not muzzle the ox" as a command to all people regarding all workers, which was governmentally enforced under the Law of Moses and to at least some degree in all secular societies. But neither the Law of Moses nor Jesus ever said that Jesus’ Kingdom commands should be enforced by the state. Maybe David Bercot can touch on that, assisting Christians how to discern just government action from unjust government action from a biblical perspective.

A challenging class with a lot to think about. I do wonder if the civil context in which the early church struggled and thrived necessarily maps onto our post-Nicene society, but appreciate the thoughtful presentation by Mr. Bercot.
Very insightful. And a good reminder of what we need to do to have Christian Citizenship.
Really incredible course!!!! Thanks!!!! I learned a ton here!!!!
Very educational
I like all the references to the first and second century Christians.
The course was very interested and I enjoyed it.
Highly recommend this course! Thank everyone for the effort to put this together!
i love this course
A paradigm shift in how I think and process worldly information that I had never considered before. It was refreshing to learn that the things of this world we Christians have embraced are a mistake that can be proven biblicaly.
Great
Good knowledge to have whilst trudging this world in the governments we live in!
Good content. I agree and strongly agree.
Wonderful course on the kingdom of God.
The lessons for this course were very interesting and helpful. They really opened my eyes and give me a fresh perspective on politics and history.
Always thought it was straight to heaven or hell.
If you have any doubts about what it means to live as a citizen of heaven, or have not been taught the least of these principles, the sermons in this course will give you a solid foundation, and call you to a wholehearted surrender to the King of all kings.
This course was very informative and captivating. I learned a lot from it.
We could do the world good to walk this way!
I appreciate the effort put into this course to present the Word as accurately as possible free from cultural and personal bias.
This course is fantastic. It has really confirmed my conviction that as Christ followers, we shouldn’t be involved in government and politics.
I learned a lot in this course. It shows a very clear line of how kingdom christians relate to politics etc. Very very worthwhile!!!!
A well researched course in how the early Christians handled major issues of their time and how we can apply the same teachings of Christ to our day and age.
This course provides biblical answers in a very historically sound perspective to many of my questions on politics and voting. David Bercot highlighted the lesson from the great commission along with cogent biblical contexts to drive home the hard-to-swallow truth- "Kingdom Christians do not get involved in Politics". I wished I had this lesson before the last general election
I really enjoyed this course. I found it both encouraging and convicting, and very applicable to my life.
Jesus teaching in the Parables of the Kingdom very helpful to me. Going back to our Lord's words always bring confusing topics into perspective. Thank you again for this wonderful ministry. Grace and peace to you.
This course has not only strengthened my faith, but also my resolve. There is much more to being a Christian that just having faith and believing, it is a complete lifestyle change. It has made me realize just how we have to remove ourselves from the way of this world and focus on the kingdom that matters, Gods kingdom.
As a lifelong Anabaptist I thought I had "heard it all", but Bercot clarified and challenged and cemented my beliefs. Thank you.
Great course. It helped me greatly. Please consider making videos of these courses as well.
For anybody associated with "God and Country" Churches like I have been, this is at first, a hard lesson. I think that this is particularly true at this moment in history. But if one listens, prays, and lets the Holy Spirit do His work, he or she will very soon feel the anxiety melt away.
If you are curious at all about what it truly means to live as a “Christian” on a practical level in every day life, these messages will clearly instruct you on this matter. These truths have emboldened me in my walk with Christ
