Ignatius:
"Conquer… their harsh temper by gentleness, their passion by meekness. For ‘blessed are the meek;’ … Paul exhorts as follows: ‘The servant of the Lord must not strive, but be gentle towards all men, apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves.’"
Origen:
"I assert that the whole inhabited world contains evidence of the works of Jesus, in the existence of those churches of God…. And the name of Jesus … produces a marvelous meekness of spirit and complete change of character."
