About this plan: the Old Testament track reads straight through the Septuagint in its traditional order (1,213 chapters); the New Testament track reads Matthew through Revelation (260 chapters) alongside it. Both finish together on Day 365. Old Testament chapter numbers follow Septuagint versification (the Psalms, for example, are numbered as the early church knew them). How long does it take to read the Bible in a year?

About 15 minutes a day. The complete Bible is 1,189 chapters (31,102 verses); our Septuagint edition with the Apocrypha and 1 Enoch is 1,455 chapters — still only 3–5 short chapters daily.

Is this Bible in a Year plan free?

Do I have to start on January 1?

No. Start any day — your first day becomes Day 1 and the whole calendar builds around it.

What if I fall behind?

Missed days stay on your calendar so you can catch up any time, and a 48-hour grace window protects your streak while you do. Reading ahead earns bonus points.

What makes the Septuagint edition different?

It is the Old Testament the early church read — the Greek Septuagint in Brenton's English translation, including the deuterocanonical books and, optionally, the Book of Enoch quoted in Jude 14–15. You can toggle Enoch and the Apocrypha on or off.

Can I listen instead of read?

Yes. Every chapter has free audio with word-by-word highlighting; finishing the audio completes the reading automatically, and the next chapter starts on its own.
