A church becomes “headless,” in the speaker’s sense, when it uses Jesus’ name but does not “follow all the teachings of Jesus,” letting leaders or members decide for themselves what to obey; church-wide repentance would mean returning to Christ’s teachings without compromise, even when it costs status or jobs.
